Post on 78th Carnival of Personal Finance

by Mr Credit Card

My recent post The Math of 0% Balance Transfer Arbitrage appeared on the 78th Carnival of Personal Finance, which was hosted by KirkWalsh.com.

I liked the way he organized the carnival by seperating post into various categories like budget, credit etc. There were a couple of articles that caught my attention. Firstly, Flexo campared Cash Back Credit Cards on his consumerismcommentary blog. Given that I use the Blue Cash as my primary cash back card and Flexo uses the Citi Dividend Platinum Select Card (which recently reduced their rebates on EDP from 5% to 2%!), you might want to check out what he has to say on this topic.

Five Cent Nickel had a post called Sign Up Bonus for applying for Business Credit Cards which I felt gave some misleading advice. He listed a few business credit cards and stated that he was thinking of getting a business credit card because he is in the process of forming a LLC for his “side business”. He then goes on to talk about the various sign up bonuses that various business credit cards are giving and says he may just sign up for the bonus and cancell after one year. I do not think you should apply for a credit card simply for the sign up bonuses. Rather, you should consider and breakdown your expenses and see which credit card fits you and your circumstances.

There are other interesting personal finance post which you should also check out.
