Guide to Auto Rewards Credit Cards

There are essentially two types of auto rewards credit card. The first type are really affinity cards where you earn reward points and use them to get discounts or rebates towards a particular brand. The other type of card is pioneered by Citicard.

The Citi® Drivers Edge® Options Platinum Select® Card is the first auto credit card that allows you to earn earn rebates and use them to either purchase or lease a vehicle of any brand. Furthermore, you can even use it for either a new or used vehicle. If you change your mind about using the rebates you have earned, you can even transfer the points to Citi's reward program.

Only recently has the new GM Flex Card followed Citi's lead and allow cardholders to use rebates for any brand of vehicles.

Below is a list of credit cards issued the major automobile manufacturers.
